In my study, I want to avoid any types of dilution to maintain the originality of the sample, there was a work confirm that dilution would change the structure of the emulsions sample. In case of cryo-SEM, I found that the maximum particle/frozen droplet size that can be measured is<200nm while my emulsion sample has droplets size range from 0.1 - 10 micron. Due to this, the measurement would not cover the whole size range. So far, NMR is likely to be the proper measurement device in my case as suggested by Mr. Jeffrey. Mr. Jeffrey could you please to inform me the price of the equipment roughly? and also the supplier (if possible). Thank you for your all suggestions, I do appreciate it. GIS will certainly be used, but thanks for recommending Quantum GIS. I had never heard of it before your mentioning. George, my final project is aimed towards quantifying the amount of sediment deposited with the dam in place while investigating where this material came from. I've done work in compiling maps of the contributing area to the reservoir and the geology of the area. With this being the case I should be able to come up with a good idea of what the sediment will look like upon further reviewing the rock units included in the contributing area. Could you think of anything else that would be useful to me with this in mind? All of the help posted has brought up some very useful considerations, I thank you all!

Hi As a student researcher - I think that the advice I was never given - but I should have been is to remember that it's ok to think. Quite often we are encouraged to read, evaluate, critically of course, but then it's time to think and it's ok to do that. it's also important to get your ideas out in the open - see what happens. We are often so isolated that sharing ideas is something which we worry about rather than just do.
