Introduction In digital luxury markets, consumer behavior is increasingly shaped by psychological and social factors beyond traditional status cues. Constructs such as scarcity, the need for uniqueness (NFU), fear of missing out (FoMO), and social comparison play a central role in influencing the intentions of younger consumers, yet their interactive effects remain underexplored. Purpose and importance This study investigates how scarcity and NFU affect luxury purchase intention among Millennials (Gen Y) and Gen Z, with FoMO and social comparison examined as moderating variables. The research addresses a theoretical gap by examining how digital-era emotional and identity-related factors alter luxury consumption behavior. Theoretical framework The study integrates commodity theory, NFU theory, self-determination theory (SDT), and social comparison theory within a Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) model. This framework enables analysis of the interplay between external stimuli, internal psychological states, and behavioral outcomes. Methodology A between-subjects experimental design was employed using four manipulated scenarios and a sample of 208 respondents. Structural equation modeling (SEM) and Hayes’ PROCESS macro were applied to test main and moderating effects. Findings NFU significantly predicts luxury purchase intention, with FoMO strengthening this effect. In contrast, scarcity and social comparison did not exhibit significant direct or moderating influence. Contributions The study extends SDT by positioning FoMO as a context-sensitive extrinsic moderator and challenges the universal application of commodity theory. Practically, it recommends identity-driven, emotionally resonant branding strategies over traditional scarcity appeals, aligning with SDG 9 through innovative and sustainable digital engagement.

The emergence of smartphone applications has affected all types of industries. Rapid smartphone adoption has introduced a variety of mobile applications into the consumer market, transforming the way consumers perform various daily tasks and activities. As is the case in the tourism industry, through the positive features provided by smart phone applications, the tourism sector constitutes a major factor in Jordanian national income. Today, Jordan has the highest percentage of mobile application users, with high usage rates of mobile application features. However, tourism in Jordan is still suffering. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the influence of smartphone application features, perceived usefulness, ease of use, and word of mouth (WOM) on the intention to use mobile applications in the Jordanian tourism industry. This study adopted a quantitative approach. It was based on a sample collected from tourists in Jordan using a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 420 copies of the questionnaires were distributed. The research model was empirically tested using structural equation modeling (SEM). SEM findings revealed that approximately 80% of the variance in intention to use mobile apps was accounted for by mobile app features, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and positive WOM. The results showed that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use were significantly related to WOM. The results of this research provide managerial guidelines for developing effective strategies for mobile applications in the Jordanian tourism industry.

This study aims to investigate the influencing factors of consumers' willingness to buy cryptocurrency in Malaysia. The targeted population of this study was Malaysian citizens who had knowledge about digital currency such as cryptocurrency. In this study, the data collection process was completed using an online survey questionnaire from several social media groups in Malaysia. They were sent a survey invitation to take part in, and after their approval, their responses were gathered. Five-point Likert scale has been used, where '1' stands for "strongly disagree" and '5' stands for "strongly agree", to find out the item-wise questionnaire. The final sample size was n = 620. Moreover, 5% significance level and SPSS software were used to analyze the data and evaluate the hypotheses. The outcome of this study exposes that the perception of the price value of the cryptocurrency, perceived trust, and perceived security measure positively and significantly affect consumers' willingness to buy cryptocurrency. Overall, these variables can explain 49.50% (R2 = 0.495) of the variance in predicting consumers' willingness to buy cryptocurrency. It is found that among the three determinants, perceived trust (β = 0.569) in cryptocurrency had the highest impact on the intention among Malaysian consumers compared to other variables. This study contributes to the limited existing literature concerning Bitcoin and digital currencies, offering insights that can aid scholars in comprehending the significance of cryptocurrency and delineating its predominant impacts within the Malaysian cryptocurrency space.

This study aims to examine the complex dynamics of short video marketing, social sharing, and consumer engagement specifically within the tourism sector in Jordan. The study used AMOS software for analysis, gathering data from a total of 468 participants, including both internal and external tourists. The results emphasize the significant impact of short video marketing in stimulating social sharing behaviors among travelers, prompting them to share their experiences on various social platforms, thus expanding the reach of tourism-related content. Moreover, the research reveals the mutual relationship between social sharing and consumer engagement, indicating that sharing behaviors play a crucial role in increasing levels of engagement among tourists. The novelty of this research resides in its concentrated investigation of these associations within the unique context of the Jordanian tourism sector. The study's significance lies in its ability to expand comprehension of digital marketing dynamics in the tourism industry, providing practical insights for marketers seeking to improve brand visibility and engagement in digital spaces. This study enhances the current knowledge base by employing a quantitative approach, establishes a basis for future research endeavors, and offers valuable insights for marketers aiming to maximize the effectiveness of digital marketing strategies.

The objective of this research is to contribute to the understanding of the online community by empirically examining the major factors motivating online community members to participate and actively contribute to their communities. In pursuing this endeavor, a comprehensive conceptual model of motivations that drive online community participation is developed based on an extensive revision of the existing relevant literature. However, modest research had been conducted to understand the online participant's motivation to participate in online communities. Thus, the current research model will enhance understanding and add to the relevant existing knowledge by categorizing digital user's motivation to participate in online communities, through the employment of Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory and Herzberg's two-factor theory. The paper used a deductive methodological approach adopted.

An examination of previous research related to m-banking in developing countries revealed that research conducted on the drivers of trust in mobile banking is somewhat limited. Therefore, this study attempted to quantitatively investigate the factors that influence users' perceptions of trust towards using mobile banking services. The model is empirically tested using an online survey from a convenience sample of 404 respondents, and analysed using SEM. The study found that the six variables (perceived benefits, perceived credibility, perceived behavioural control, social influence, privacy and security risks) have direct impact on users' trust in m-banking. In particular, perceived credibility has the highest positive effect on users' trusts in m-banking, followed by perceived benefits and PBC while social influence has the lowest effect. In contrast, security risk and privacy risk exhibited a moderate negative impact on users' trust in mobile banking.
