How far digital technological innovations have succeeded in overcoming political apathy and political disengagement? If your answer goes utopian way, how sustainable will that change be? Do we have any empirical evidence which may suggest that the change in real sense is sustainable?

Obviously, real democracy is possible only when each voter has enough intellectual power and knowledge. It would be great to have something like exams for driver or shooter licence - "voter licence" - basic questions from history, logic, fundamentals of natural sciences (school level). Otherwise, it is not democracy, it is ochlocracy: TV stars, sportsmen, populists, etc. (of course, paid by serious persons - oligarchs, who will get real power) to be elected.
There is one nice movie "Idiocracy" (2006), looks like a prediction...

Hi all,
I'm running CFA utilizing 12 variables: 11 are IVs and 1 is DV (E-participation), correlations are all significant but values are between 0.3 and 0.55.
Are these low correlations? If so, are they going to affect the model fitness and low CFI?
Thanks ahead.
Mustafa
Relevant answer
Answer
Hello Mustafa,
No; the parcels refer to the observed scores used to estimate the 11 IVs and 1 DV, not to combining sets of the latent variables/factors.
One final point: You can still have low correlations/loadings/path coefficients among the latent variables and obtain superb model-data fit, if those (low) coefficients work well to reproduce the observed relationships in the data set. In other words, the model could be an accurate portrayal of relatively modest relationships among the constructs of interest.
Good luck with your work.

I am planning a study on transparency and acceptance of a policy development process. I found the following related studies:
  • I plan to base the study on the work of De Fine Licht (2014) - links attached.
  • Cramer et al. (2008) measure the effects of transparency on trust in and acceptance of a content-based art recommender.
  • Trust (as a related concept) has been analyzed before in Becker, Heddier, Öksüz, Knackstedt (2014) - but in an non-public setting.
  • Organizational TransparencyEdit (2015-09-18): Two quantitative evaluation frameworks for organizational transparency have been proposed and tested before: Rawlins 2009: "Give the Emperor a Mirror: Toward Developing a Stakeholder Measurement of Organizational Transparency" and Dapko 2012: "Perceived Firm Transparency: Scale and Model Development"
I don't plan to include the Technology Acceptance Model, as it rather equates usage of IT as the measure for acceptance - which seems to fit badly for a policy's acceptance.
Am I missing some important study and are there any established questionnaires available?

Good Project, Dear Mathias and wish you well. Besides whatever else you may consider for your study, I recommend that you spend time on the work of Kaufmann, et al., who have developed the World Governance Indicators (WGI) in which Transparency is one of the crucial indicators. They have developed considerable standards and rated countries which will help you to streamline and evolve your thinking apart from giving you a number of sources from which you can draw data.
Transparency International is another source you can explore.
My work in straddling the area of governance and participative democracy. Good luck to you.

As we know, cyber activism is not a homogenous trend, as it covers a multitude of actions undertaken by social movements, nongovernmental organizations and individual entities.
I know it is difficult to measure the results of actions realized by cyber activists in a literal sense, f. ex. present them in detailed percentage bars. What concerns cyber activists, the most important issue is that the initiative has to reach the awareness of the recipient and has to make him think.
Do you think that actions undertaken by cyber activists weaken the position occupied by elites within the public space?
Relevant answer
Answer
Spain is highly active in cyber activism. Change.org is a widely used platform in my country. A lot of iniciatives had collected more than 300,000 signatures, a remarkable amount in a country of 46 million people. Newspapers and tv news make reference to iniciatives in this page most of the weeks.
Among the most successful actions I would highlight:
-Change in Spectacles Law in Madrid Region as a result of 428k signatures.
-A Spanish woman affected by cancer comes back from a Bolivian prison, 175k people signed the petition.
-After the scandal of corruption in the political party currently governing Spain more than 1.2 million signatures were collected to ask for the dimission of the prime minister.
Currently there are two well-known iniciatives:
-Change in law to outlaw webpages to foster anorexia
-Today a lot of people had signed to save the dog of the first woman infected by ebola in Madrid because the authorities want to kill it. There are more than 150k signatures in a few hours.

Given that e-government gives birth to the transformation of government, how can that transformation result in and enhance citizens' trust in their government?
Relevant answer
Answer
Transformation of government also need to involve citizens as stakeholder. By doing so then you can grantee the trust. Other wise transforming without citizen involvement of citizens my end up citizen increasing the gap between the government and citizens, and this will lead to no trust as they are not part of anything going on in the government side.
