Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.

About the Housing Justice Commission (HJC)
The Housing Justice Commission (HJC) coordinates national and regional campaigns for tenants’ rights and housing policy, and supports local DSA chapters in the creation and expansion of tenant organizing. The HJC has three subcommittees: ETOC, Policy, and Political Education.
Connect
ETOC: Development and execution of tenant organizing trainings, mentorship, and chapter outreach.
Policy: Development of tools and resources for housing justice campaigns across DSA (e.g. right to counsel, just cause, social housing)
Political Education: Educational events around housing justice; conducts programs related to socialist theory, history, and methodology.

The DSA national convention has come and gone, the biggest one yet, and this year the HJC resolution passed by consensus! Here is a brief list of what we’ve got to look forward to in the coming two years, but you can also find the full resolution language linked below.
La convención nacional de DSA ha llegado y se ha ido, la más grande hasta ahora, ¡y este año la resolución de CVJ fue aprobada por consenso! The resolution reauthorizes the commission’s status as a national priority so we can continue to do the critical work of facilitating tenant union organizing through ETOC, political education like The 4 Principles of Social Housing, and exciting new projects like the Language Exchanges. Of particular note is the “Socialists: Organize Your Workplace, Organize Your Building” campaign. Our org, and particularly our chapters, have the capability to make a strong contribution to the growing tenants union movement, in the form of not only political education but primarily by organizing our buildings, blocks, and neighborhoods into tenant unions. Let’s help develop that capacity!
La resolución reautoriza el estatus de la comisión como una prioridad nacional para que podamos continuar haciendo el trabajo crítico de facilitar la organización sindical de inquilinos a través de ETOC, educación política como Los 4 Principios de la Vivienda Social y nuevos proyectos emocionantes como los Intercambios de Idiomas. Cabe destacar la campaña “Socialistas: Organiza tu lugar de trabajo, organiza tu edificio”. ETOC: Emergency Tenant Organizing Committee
The Emergency Tenant Organizing Committee program is an ambitious plan to build a outward-facing tenant unionization effort by training and mentoring DSA members & their comrades participating in tenant organizing all across the United States.
The tenant unions that we construct must build organized tenant militancy and capacity as we leverage our working class power in everyday struggles against landlords, developers and other real estate capitalists.
Through development of this rigorous tenant organizing project, ETOC seeks to strengthen the internal coherence & collective purpose of DSA Housing Justice Commission.
The program has three (3) steps: Intake (1), Training (2), Mentorship (3).

THE 4 PRINCIPLES OF SOCIAL HOUSING/LOS 4 PRINCIPIOS DE LA VIVIENDA SOCIAL
In 2023, the Housing Justice Commission, a national body of the DSA, drafted, debated, and democratically voted in favor of a statement on social housing. This statement became known as “The 4 Principles of Social Housing”. Its purpose is to facilitate socialist tenant organizers in discussing not only the current state of organizing for housing, but also steps towards a horizon of truly social housing free from capitalism and financialization.
En 2023, la Comisión para Vivienda con Justicia, un organismo nacional de la DSA, redactó, debatió y votó democráticamente a favor de una declaración sobre la vivienda social. Esta declaración se conoció como “Los 4 Principios de la Vivienda Social”. Social housing is when people live where we want, with whom we want, and how we want – to the extent that we can imagine using all available resources through a democratic process.

REDISTRIBUTION FROM LANDOWNERS/REDISTRIBUCIÓN DESDE LOS DUEÑOS DEL ALOJAMIENTO
Capitalism requires the private ownership of land, upon which the very possibility of surplus value extraction is based. A definition of social housing must challenge this fundamental relation of the capitalist mode of production.
El capitalismo requiere la propiedad privada de las cosas, sobre lo cual la extracción de la ganancia está basada. Una definición de la vivienda social debe plantear un reto a esta relación fundamental del modo de producción capitalista.
DEMOCRATIC CONTROL/CONTROL DEMOCRÁTICO
Social housing must authorize those who directly depend on the provision of the housing in question to decide the fate of their community. Social housing does not offer an equal seat at the table to developers, investors, or city councilors. Social housing prioritizes and makes real the collective will of tenants.
La vivienda social debe autorizar a aquellos que dependen la vivienda en cuestión a decidir el destino de su comunidad. La vivienda social no les ofrece un lugar igual a los desarrolladores, a los inversores, o a los consejeros de la ciudad. La vivienda social establece prioridades y convertir en realidad la voluntad colectiva de los inquilinos.
SUSTAINABLE & HIGH QUALITY/SUSTENTABLE Y DE CALIDAD ALTA
Under capitalism housing prioritizes profits over people and planet – buildings are made cheaply with high external costs to the environment; neighborhoods are cycled through disinvestment, dispossession, and gentrification; and cities are selectively improved with public dollars to overwhelmingly benefit the already wealthy at the expense of the poor. Social housing breaks this pattern by adhering to design, architecture, and social planning that serves everyone, which also means protecting and reviving our ecosystems and when possible prioritizing renovation and renewal over new construction.
En el capitalismo la vivienda le da prioridad a las ganancias por encima de la gente y el planeta – los edificios están hechos de manera barata y con altos costos externos para el planeta; los vecindarios son ciclados mediante la desinversión, el desplazamiento y la gentrificación; y las ciudades hacen una mejoría selectiva con dólares del público para beneficiar a los que ya son ricos a expensas de los pobres. La vivienda social acaba con esta manera de hacer las cosas mediante su adhesión al diseño, arquitectura y planeación social que sirve a todos, lo cual también significa que lo hace protegiendo y reviviendo nuestros ecosistemas y cuando es posible, dándole prioridad a la renovación por encima de la construcción nueva.
UNIVERSAL ACCESS/ACCESO UNIVERSAL
Housing must be available for everyone, free of segregation by income or race. Housing also must be accessible for people of very different needs. That requires us to improve housing standards to accommodate all disabilities and needs through flexibility, creativity, and advance planning.
La vivienda debe estar disponible para todos, libre de segregación por ingresos o raza. La vivienda también debe ser accesible a gente con necesidades diferentes.
