Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.

Apply to become an official YDSA chapter
Before you apply, read over these tips:
- There is no rush to finish this application. The application will close in spring, so there is plenty of time to apply. Do not rush through the application. Sit down with your core leadership to think carefully about your chapter’s goals and priorities before you apply.
- Apply only when your chapter is established. Having around 10 consistent members and recurring meetings should be the goal before you sit down and fill out the application.
- Watch this video on how to fill out the application. The video should clarify why it is important to be recognized as an official chapter and also resolve any questions you might have while filling out the application.
If you have done all of the things above, fill out the application! Once you fill out the application, you should hear back on your status within one month, although sometimes the process can take a bit longer. If you need an update on the status of your application, please email [email protected].
Organizing resources
- Regular New Chapter Trainings – These are perfect for brand new organizers and the first step to starting your chapter! Go to a new chapter training first and a recruitment and development call once your OC is rolling!
- Request a training – request an organizing training led by a DSA staff organizer for your chapter or for a group of chapters.
- YDSA Organizing Manual – A crucial document detailing the main skills, attitudes, and approaches successful chapters take to build a socialist organization.
- Digital chapter building kit – Google folder full of resources to help you organize your YDSA chapter.
