Rising Up in the Streets: Millions Say “Hands Off” to Trump
An estimated 3 million people protested at about 1,300 gatherings around the United States on Apr. 5, 2025, in what was the first coordinated mass action against Donald Trump’s second tenure.
Organizers dubbed the actions “Hands Off!” and directed their ire at many targets, including Trump, Elon Musk’s haphazard and destructive slashes to government programs and jobs, and Steven Miller and Marco Rubio’s disappearances of immigrants.
In Pasadena, California, where residents are still recovering from the devastating Eaton fires in January, thousands of people gathered at the city’s main thoroughfare to protest. YES! Media was there for a special report as part of our ongoing series, Rising Up in the Streets. Special thanks to Anna Buss.

Formed in 2009, the Archive Team (not to be confused with the archive.org Archive-It Team) is a rogue archivist collective dedicated to saving copies of rapidly dying or deleted websites for the sake of history and digital heritage. The group is 100% composed of volunteers and interested parties, and has expanded into a large amount of related projects for saving online and digital history.
