We’re excited to announce that we’ve made significant updates to profiles. We did this so you can present yourself to others better and can see the most relevant information when you visit someone else’s profile.
We’ve added a stats summary at the top-right corner of everyone’s profile that provides a snapshot of a researcher’s impact through metrics like Research Interest score, citations, and h-index.
Directly underneath this summary, you can hover over “Citations over time” to see a graph showing the number of citations they’ve received each year over the past seven years. Researchers visiting your profile will see the same information for you.
Being able to track how research items and citations have changed is an easy way to understand how active a researcher is and how their impact has grown over time.
When visiting another person’s profile, you’ll now be able to see a list of your shared connections. A shared connection is anyone who is a co-author, advisor, lab colleague, project collaborator, mutual follower, and/or department colleague of you and the researcher whose profile you’re visiting.
By seeing which shared connections you have with another researcher, you can determine how relevant someone is to your work. Mentioning a shared connection can be a great conversation starter that leads to a new connection!
We’ve received feedback from members that they want to add more relevant information on their profiles. That’s why we’ve added the option to include multiple affiliations, your journal roles, and a link to your personal website.
We’ve also reordered some of the information in the profile so you can showcase your current affiliation, degree, position, and current activity directly in the profile header.
You can also sort the information on your profile, such as disciplines, skills and expertise, and languages, so you can put the most important information at the top.
With these additions, you now have the tools to more accurately present yourself and get more people interested in you and your work, leading to new opportunities to connect.
