Question
In an article by Dr. Özkaynak in the Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, Transactions of Electrical Engineering, titled: "An Analysis and Generation Toolbox for Chaotic Substitution Boxes: A Case Study Based on Chaotic Labyrinth Rene Thomas System":
He presents the scientific community with a tool that he built to evaluate the performance of substitution boxes (S-boxes).
However, upon clicking on the provided link in the article, one is directed to a webpage with a broken link.
Does anyone have this tool or code?
Upon first publishing this article, the link must have been working. Someone must have downloaded it before it was taken away.
Question
I am currently interested in carrying out research in the field of image encryption. Most of my work includes 3 stages of encryption, such that the middle stage utilizes a substitution box (S-box). An example is this:
I am looking for a collaborator who can design robust s-boxes and deliver their full analysis. This means computing and commenting on an S-box's performance in terms of:
1. Nonlinearity
2. SAC
3. BIC
4. LAP
5. DAP
If interested, please respond to this discussion or send me a message with your email address.
Question
And how would those constraints shape and restrain investment decisions of finance managers looking to make investments in an emerging economy?
Question
Recently it has come to my attention that researchers sometimes upload their preprints to websites such as arXiv.org and ResearchSquare.com. Later on, they would then submit those same manuscripts to a journal.
I am a little confused about this whole process. Especially with regards to the following points:
First of all, wouldn't this create a problem of plagiarism later on, as the journal runs its plagiarism-detection algorithm and finds an identical or near-identical copy of the manuscript elsewhere online (the archived preprint)?
Also, what about the ideas in the preprint being "stolen". I mean, the manuscript is not yet published, so what guarantees this issue?
If you have actually made one of your pre-prints available on any of these websites before, how was this beneficial to you? Did you get feedback from your peers on how improve it for example?
Thank you for reading and joining the discussion!
Question
I have been researching the topic of image encryption and implementing it in software, using Wolfram Mathematica and Mathworks Matlab. So far, this has been successful and I am able to publish my results, for example:
How would you suggest I go down the path of learning about and implementing the same ideas using hardware?
What are good options to start with? A Raspberry Pi, Arduino, more advanced ICs?
Would you suggest any specific textbooks to go through in this learning journey?
Question
Some journals on Education such as Springer's Discover Education and MDPI's Education Sciences are rather new journals that have yet to attain an impact factor. The question is, would you submit a manuscript to any of these journals or opt to well-established venues such as the IEEE Transactions on Education?
I am raising this question to initiate a discussion. Kindly provide the pros and cons of choosing to submit a manuscript to any of the aforementioned journals.
Question
What are the most important enabling technologies for Industry 4.0?
Can you provide links to open access papers that provide a quality survey on the topic?
Question
When running an encrypted bitstream through a NIST analysis, should all the values be greater than 0.1 or greater than 0.01 for the bitstream to pass the test?
Question
I am looking for research articles that either discuss or propose the design of a critical component of image encryption algorithms and their implementations, specifically s-boxes. Can you provide links to 2022 open access articles on S-box construction?
Here is one such example:
Question
The website, integratedreporting.org, states the following:
"The International <IR> Framework defines integrated reporting as ‘a process founded on integrated thinking that results in a periodic integrated report by an organization about value creation over time and related communications regarding aspects of value creation.’ Integrated reporting brings together material information about an organization’s strategy, governance, performance and prospects in a way that reflects the commercial, social and environmental context within which it operates. It provides a clear and concise representation of how the organization demonstrates stewardship and how it creates value, now and in the future.
But integrated reporting isn’t just a reporting process. It’s founded on integrated thinking, or systems thinking. Integrated thinking drives an improved understanding of how value is created and enhances decision-making by boards and management. The more integrated thinking is embedded in daily operations, the more naturally this information will be expressed in internal and external communications. On this basis, integrated thinking and integrated reporting are mutually reinforcing."
In relation to the aforementioned:
1. What should be the contents of an integrated report? Currently, the IIRC suggests 8 elements to be part of any IR. These are: organizational overview and external environment, governance, business model, risks and opportunities, strategy and resource allocation, performance, outlook, and finally the basis of preparation and presentation. Do you believe more elements should be added, or some of the aforementioned elements could be removed? On what basis do you make such a recommendation?
2. Do you believe that the contents of integrated reporting could possibly be a threat to an organization?
3. The IIRC defines capitals as "stocks of value that are increased, decreased or transformed through the activities and outputs of the organization. They are categorized as financial, manufactured, intellectual, human, social and relationship, and natural capital". Can improvements in one of the six capitals lead to a negative effect among them? For example, attempting to improve on the financial front might lead to a deterioration in the environment one. Or attempting to provide training to the company’s employees would lead to more expenses and thus a financial decline.
These are only some starting points for discussion, please feel free to add more ideas and raise further questions.
