Web wide crawl with initial seedlist and crawler configuration from March 2011. This uses the new HQ software for distributed crawling by Kenji Nagahashi.

The seed list for this crawl was a list of Alexa’s top 1 million web sites, retrieved close to the crawl start date. We used Heritrix (3.1.1-SNAPSHOT) crawler software and respected robots.txt directives. The scope of the crawl was not limited except for a few manually excluded sites.
However this was a somewhat experimental crawl for us, as we were using newly minted software to feed URLs to the crawlers, and we know there were some operational issues with it. For example, in many cases we may not have crawled all of the embedded and linked objects in a page since the URLs for these resources were added into queues that quickly grew bigger than the intended size of the crawl (and therefore we never got to them). We also included repeated crawls of some Argentinian government sites, so looking at results by country will be somewhat skewed.
We have made many changes to how we do these wide crawls since this particular example, but we wanted to make the data available “warts and all” for people to experiment with. We have also done some further analysis of the content.

Unique programs to introduce children to symphonic and orchestral
music.
MUSIC MENTORING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLS (Beginning in the 1999-2000
school year!) Approximately 25,000 children per year are able to interact
with professional musicians through the Junior Symphony
Guild's education programs, "Tiny Tots"
and "Inside the Orchestra." In collaboration
with the Denver Musicians Association,
"Music Mentoring for Middle Schools" is a perfect addition to
the Guild's comprehensive programs.
The program utilizes strong role models and clinicians who, in addition
to their artistry, can effectively teach in a group setting. These clinicians
work closely with students on tone production, embouchure and posture development,
intonation, and problem areas of band and orchestra literature.
Now in preparation: A unique aspect of the program is an established
Internet presence designed to share learning experiences with students
worldwide. Lesson plans and study materials can be downloaded from this
site so that students can prepare in advance of the clinicians' visit.
An interactive question/answer format will also be maintained on the website.
School music teachers are encouraged to organize questions and provide
answers, or seek answers from clinicians or qualified sources.

TINY TOTS CONCERTS
A unique program, developed by the Junior Symphony Guild to introduce
children ages 3-7 to symphonic music.
An unusual and exciting perspective is achieved by having the children
sit inside a large circle of 31 musicians where the children are free to
move with the music or concentrate on a musician who may be sitting inches
from them.
The orchestra entertains the children with familiar classical music
from their favorite TV shows, movies, cartoons and commercials. These tiny
tots discover orchestra music is all around them every day!

INSIDE THE ORCHESTRA
A Conductor and fourteen professional musicians perform the "Inside
the Orchestra" program at approximately 20 elementary schools each
year. The beginnings of an orchestra, musical terms, instrument families,
and symphonic and classical music in every day life, are explored in a
fun, interactive format.
Inside the Orchestra programs are free to all schools in the Denver
metro area and are scheduled in the Fall and Spring. Contact the Junior
Symphony Guild to request an Inside the Orchestra program for your school.
Concerts will be scheduled in the order in which requests are received.

- JSG is an independent nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that has developed
and funded unique programs to support and introduce children to symphonic
and orchestral music in the Denver area. Proceeds from the JSG Showhouse
fund these programs.
- The JSG was established in 1958 and has been contributing to the education
of music to children for over 40 years.
- JSG has raised over $3,000,000 to benefit symphonic music organizations
and youth music education programs in the Denver metropolitan area.
- JSG coordinates and sponsors a series of 20-22 "Tiny Tots"
concerts performed in February at six different locations in metro Denver.
- JSG sponsors approximately 16"Inside the Orchestra"concerts
in the Fall.
- The JSG has approximately 200 volunteer members in the Denver area
that dedicate their time to this organization.
- The 25th JSG Showhouse, which funds the Guild's educational programs
will be the Grant Humphreys Mansion, 770 Pennsylvania, an 18,000 square
foot mansion. Built in 1902 at a cost of $35,000 the 30 room mansion is
listed on the National Register of Historic Homes and has been designated
a Denver Landmark.
