JUST PAST: October 13: Scholarship Winners’ Recital
It was truly an awe-inspiring afternoon for those in the audience at the

Here's a photo of our winners, from left to right: Isabel Dimoff (Senior Division winner), James Hettinga (Junior Division winner), Matt Zucker (Collegiate Division winner), Nathan Watts (Collegiate Division winner) and center front: Marissa Veccia (Mary Margaret Kramer Elementary Division winner).
UPCOMING:
1. November 23, Saturday, 2:30 pm: Baroque Dance Workshop
Ever wonder what a bourée, menuet, sarabande, gavotte, courante , and allemande look like when danced? Here's your opportunity to find out from Cleveland’s very own, Julie Andrijeski, internationally-acclaimed Baroque violinist and dance specialist. After a short introductory PowerPoint presentation, she'll get all of us dancing --offering pointers as to what's especially important for the music. She'll also demonstrate the sarabande, gavotte and courante in practice clothes, allowing everyone to see the footwork optimally. The workshop will conclude with a performance in costume by her Baroque Dance class at CWRU.
Ms. Andrijeski holds a D.M.A. in Early Music from Case Western Reserve University, an M.M. from Northwestern University and a B.M. from the University of Denver. A full-time Lecturer at Case Western Reserve University, Ms. Andrijeski is among the leading baroque violinists and early music pedagogues in the U.S. She teaches both violin and dance during the year at Case and at summer festivals in Oberlin (BPI), Madison (MEMF), and Vancouver, BC (VEMF). Her unique performance style is greatly influenced by her knowledge and skilled performance of early dance.
Venue: The Music Settlement, 11125 Magnolia Drive (in University Circle), Cleveland. Tickets: free to CCS members, $5 for non-members, sold at the door only.
2. February 7, Friday, 7 pm: i Cellisti! with guest artist Julie Albers
This year’s theme of our very popular annual cello ensemble extravaganza is Inspired by Bach. Julie Albers, the collegiate division winner of our very first competition in 1999, will perform Bach’s Suites Nos. 1 and 4. Julie has performed with an impressive array of orchestras throughout the world, and is the cello professor at the McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. The program will continue with cello ensemble arrangements of works by J.S. Bach, as performed by Cleveland’s abundant collection of first-rate cellists. The evening will also include our cello-centric silent auction, which will take place during intermission. Items up for bid include cello lessons, an afternoon of cello duets performed at a time and place of your choosing, dinners prepared by cellists, and much more. Support a great cause while attending an inspirational evening of cello ensemble music: proceeds from ticket and auction sales provide the funds for the CCS Scholarships!
Venue: The Music Settlement, 11125 Magnolia Drive (in University Circle), Cleveland. Tickets: $15, for sale online at www.clevelandcello.com, via phone at 216-921-3480, or sold at the door. Better yet, consider becoming a $100 i Cellisti! patron. Arrive early for best seats.
