What musical instrument(s) do you play?

I play the Cello and Piano.

ALL levels of players are welcome! Describe your playing ability: a) which positions are you comfortable with; b) are you presently taking lessons (if not, when was your last one)?; c) what was the last piece you worked on?

I consider my playing ability to be moderately advanced. I'm comfortable playing the cello parts in our string quartet and playing the 3rd or 4th parts in Cello Quartet repertoire. I tend to shy away from music that has a lot of thumb position and treble clef. I do not take lessons presently. My last lessons were in high school many years ago. I love to play and do it for enjoyment. The last pieces I worked on were concert pieces programmed for the final Broomfield Symphony performance of this year.

What is your experience playing with a) orchestras; b) chamber ensembles; c) cello choir?

In high school, I performed in the school orchestra and the Colorado All-State Orchestra. From 1963 to 1980, I performed with the Boulder Philharmonic. I moved to Ft. Collins in 1981 and played with the Ft. Collins Symphony and the Loveland Chamber Orchestra for thirteen years. After moving back to Boulder in 1987, I performed with the new Timberline Symphony (now called "Boulder Symphony" - not to be confused with the Boulder Phil) as a founding member. During the same period of time, I performed with the Mostly Strauss Orchestra in Denver and the Colorado Theater Orchestra in Loveland. I sometimes perform with the Flatirons Community Orchestra of Boulder County. In 1996, I founded Ptarmigan String Quartet which has been performing together for the past 17 years for events. About 6 years ago, I founded Cellidoscope Cello Quartet and we also perform for special events.

Do you have any particular topics of interest to cellists that you would like to hear addressed in our meetup?

I'm interested in learning new pieces and performing in recitals/concerts. Holiday concerts are fun. When my Cello Quartet was active, we received many calls to perform wedding music as a Cello Quartet. I'd be interested in pursuing these kinds of things with other cellists.

We meet monthly. How often do you expect you will be able to attend a play-in over the next twelve months?

Depending upon the dates/times, I could likely attend most of the scheduled play-ins and could rehearse more than once per month.

What Victoria B. is saying about this Meetup Group

This Meetup was very enjoyable. A lot of great cellists got together and rehearsed Holiday music for upcoming Recitals in December!
