The workshop will be helpful for those interested in answering the following questions:

• What business models work for EdTech startups?

• How can educational businesses and/or institutions innovate and adjust to find solutions that are more responsive to the needs of their consumers?

• What are some of the challenges in building a sustainable educational venture?

Presentation Topics:

1. The Use of Digital Media in Education

Sascha Funk - Digital Strategy Consultant and University Instructor

Mr. Sascha will present on "Using Digital Media in Education”. With an over abundance of content and social media in today's society the appropriate use of Digital Media in Education has become a hot and controversial topic. A common concern when taking Digital Media literacy for granted is: What exactly is Digital Media and how can we use it for educational purposes?

Educators, parents, and students alike are now confronted with decisions such as: Is ‘Facebooking’ with students the right way to go? Do we need to restrict or nurture the use of digital media in the classroom? How can we ensure that students use digital media the ‘right’ way and what is this right way? Sasha will try to answer a few of those questions while addressing further issues that come along with the entrance of smartphones, tablets, Facebook, Instagram & Snapchat into today's classrooms.

Sascha Funk is a Digital Strategy consultant based in Bangkok, Thailand where he also works as University instructor at Rangsit University lecturing in Online Business and New Media related subjects while overseeing research projects focusing on digital currencies and educational technology. Prior to shifting his professional career to Southeast Asia Mr. Sascha worked in management for New Media and Online Marketing agencies in the EU.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
