Meetup is looking for a dynamic, seasoned leader to become its Head of Product Design. As one of two deputies to the VP Product, this is a senior position that will play a pivotal role in developing world class products and features for Meetup members and organizers. We want someone who will come in with a solid reputation for building both great mobile products and world class teams. The position calls for a leader who is both an empowering manager and a hands-on coach for the design team.
Meetup is 14-years-old, with 20+ million passionate members and organizers across 180 countries. While we were born in the desktop era, our future is mobile. We are now a mobile app company, with great design being a critical lynchpin to our success. As a first step toward exponential growth in the future, we are completely redesigning and rebuilding our iOS and Android apps. We’re also working with Sagmeister & Walsh on a complete rebrand. The launch of these changes later this summer will be just the beginning. The Head of Product Design will have the opportunity to take this new design foundation in exciting new directions.
Design hasn’t always been a driving force in how we approach product development at Meetup. That has changed significantly in the last couple years. Our design team has grown from one person four years ago to a team of nine now. We will look to the Head of Product Design to raise the team’s profile even higher and expand its sphere of influence. For example, copywriting will move into the design department. As Head of Product Design, you will build out a small team, define our voice and make sure the copywriting function is successfully integrated into our product and design process.
