Symphony Orchestra

The Symphony Orchestra is the most advanced of our orchestras, and performs 4-6 concerts a year, including a side-by-side concert opportunity with the Arapahoe Philharmonic. Repertoire will include movements from Beethoven's 5th, Schubert's "Great" Symphony, Haydn's "Miracle" Symphony, and more! Students will also get the chance to perform a work by the resident composer with the Arapahoe Philharmonic!  Concerts will be at varying venues in and around the Highlands Ranch area.

These students will also be featured in the Figaro Opera Project. We have partnered with the Italian/American Opera Foundation in this exciting venture to try and help foster a love and understanding of Opera in America's youth.  Young musicians will be featured alongside professional vocalists and instrumentalists to experience Mozart's, The Magic Flute.

Auditions are required for enrollment in the Symphony Orchestra.  Ages range from 13-21. Rehearsals are held weekly at Avanti Music Academy, and take place Sunday afternoons from 4:30pm-7:00pm.

Philharmonic Orchestra

The Philharmonic Orchestra is an ensemble designed to give young instrumentalists an opportunity to play and experience orchestral music.  The Philharmonic is perfect for young musicians aspiring to one day play with the Symphony Orchestra. They will perform 2-4 concerts that will go along with the Symphony Orchestra concerts.  The Philharmonic repertoire will also parallel with the Symphony. Concerts will be at varying venues in and around the Highlands Ranch area.

The Magic Flute

The opera, “The Magic Flute,” is the last opera by Mozart.

The world premiere of this opera which was actually conducted by Mozart on the 30th of September in 1791.

Papagano was played by Emanuel Schikaneder, the principal of the theater, who requested Mozart to compose this opera. Mozart died on the 5th of December that year. He instructed those closest to him to play “The Magic Flute” for him when he is on his deathbed. It is assumed that Mozart truly loved this opera. It became so successful, it was performed 100 times that year.
