Tupelo Honey offers a swingy, bluesy, folky mix of Americana music with great harmonies and rich tones. Tupelo Honey is:
- Michelle Allen ~ guitar, banjo, vocals. For Michelle, a longtime Lyons resident and veteran of several front-range bands including Little Liza Jane and the Slick Allen Trio, Tupelo Honey provides the perfect mix of talents and voices to continue her creative evolution as a singer-songwriter. Michelle's true to life heart-felt lyrics and well crafted and compelling tunes quickly engage and win over audiences. Whether re-creating traditional music or performing original songs in her own confessional style, Michelle's music reflects her love of American Folk and Roots music.
- Nancy Thorwardson ~ guitar, percussion, vocals. Nancy has been a performing musician for many years, working in combos large and small, playing western and standard swing music, old-timey and Cajun dance music, and folk and bluegrass music. Nancy has a true talent for composing songs which fit perfectly within the genre, so her original numbers are always highlights of any show.
- Paul Kiteck ~ fiddle, mandolin. Paul brings a special sound to the band, with his many years of expert styling on both fiddle and mandolin. From fast-paced hoe-downs to swinging solos, he puts the spice in the rice and garnishes the band's sound with very tasty talent. Paul also performs with the Jamesons Co-Dependent Country Band, and plays as a hired sideman in numerous musical configurations.
- Jason "Jay" Allen ~ upright bass. Jay's steady-at-the-tiller bass playing and exceptional bluegrass fundamentals are the foundation for Tupelo Honey. Not only is Jay a talented bassist, but in private he occasionally breaks out the Charango (Bolivian Mandolin). Jay has played in a number of local bands, including the widely acclaimed Colorado Bluegrass band, "Ragged Union", and has been a fixture at the Lyons bluegrass jam for many years. In addition to Tupelo Honey, Jay currently plays with David Coile.
