Individual Counseling

CAPS is a place where you can talk confidentially with a licensed therapist who respects and understands your needs. Each student is matched with an individual counselor after a walk-in session with whom they will collaboratively develop a plan to address their concerns and goals.

Some of your concerns may include:

Academic Performance

Alcohol & Other Drugs

Anxiety

Career Direction

Conflicts

Friendships

Depression

Loneliness

Family

Suicidal Thoughts

Adjusting to CU

Anger

Body Image

Coming Out

Communication Difficulties

Cultural Identity

Financial Insecurity

Relationships

Stress Management

Couple’s Counseling

Many of our therapists are trained to help couples improve communication and work through relationship issues. If it is decided that CAPS is not the best place to meet your needs, we will provide referrals to more appropriate resources on campus or in the community.

All fee-paying CU-Boulder students are eligible for up to six counseling visits per academic year at either CAPS location.

For more information click here.

For visits beyond the first six, students can either use their Student Gold Health Insurance Plan or pay out-of-pocket per visit.

If you need to cancel a scheduled appointment, please call at least 24 hours in advance to avoid losing one of your free sessions or being charged a cancellation fee of $30-80 depending on the appointment type.
