Many companies make each of the models, so you can not directly compare price and quality just by the model name. Consider ordering a few models to try, and then contact us to return. Also, consider different shoulder rests. A change in your chinrest, may necessitate an adjustment to the shoulder rest, or a different shoulder rest product. Our most recommended and popular models are the Wittner Ultra, Guarneri, and Flesch Flat models.

Guarneri. Probably the world's most popular chinrest style. Mounts centrally, with a large cup off to the side. Most players set their jaw over the tailpiece portion, using the ridge as an anchor for secure support.

Guarneri with Hill Hardware. Just like the standard Guarneri model, but with upgraded hardware.

Flesch. Center mounted, with a hump over the tailpiece. No other model is anything like this shape. Models like this often make contact with the tailpiece. A luthier can carve some wood away from the under side, or additional cork material can be added to increase the clearance slightly.

Flesch Flat. Center mounted like the original Flesch, but flat on top.

Wittner Ultra Side Mount. Hypoallergenic composite material, and a smoothly contoured mounting bracket design, make this chinrest a top seller. Wittner spent many years developing this design. Extensive testing was done.

Wittner Ultra Center Mount. Same features as the side mount model, but with a higher overall height, and center mounted position.

Wittner "Augsburg" Adjustable. Latest design from Wittner features the same hypoallergenic material as other Ultra rests, but with a new adjustable feature for teh angle

Ohrenform. Center mount, with large, deeply contoured cup, and a pronounced ridge for the jaw to anchor.

London. Another side mounted, low cup design. Has a small ridge that becomes more pronounced over the tailpiece.

Strad. Similar to Guarneri, but with a more-rounded shape over the tailpiece.

Teka. Tall side-mount. Steep rise over the tailpiece.

Teka Low. Very popular choice. Steep angle, with a pronounced ridge to catch the jaw securely.

Leipzig. Very low cup, with a slight rise near the tailpiece.

Hill Flat. Side mounted, low cup, with moderate rise over the tailpiece.

Hill Flat with Hill Hardware. Same as the standard Hill Flat, with premium mounting brackets.

Hollywood. Side mount, high plate, with a high, sharp edge to catch the jaw.

Schmidt. A tall side-mounted rest, with a steep rise over the tailpiece.

Morawetz. The high, deep edge has a smooth contour, and the cup is quite deep with a rise in the back.

Berber. Mounts centrally and has a large plate and sharp ridge similar to Ohrenform.

Berlin. Very low, side mount.

Vermeer. Side mount, with a protruding section over the tailpiece. Flat, with not much of a ridge.

Wendling. Another slight variation of the Guarneri design. Flatter cup, with a strad-like roundness over the tailpiece.

Kaufman. Popular side-mount style. Low, with a shallow cup.

Kaufman with Hill Hardware. Same as the standard Kaufman, but with premium hardware.

Brandt. Very low, side-mounted plate which is flat and has a small ridge.

Extra Flat. The lowest, flattest chinrest available. Side mount.

Huberman. A low, side-mounted plate, with more depth than others of this style.

Joachim. A very low, side-mounted plate, with a deeper cup than others of similar style.

Spohr. Side mount, high plate.

Zitsman. Center mount, with a shallow, smoothly contoured cup.

Stuber with Hill Hardware. Like the regular Stuber, but with premium hardware.

Priska. Center mounted, with a cup shape like the London model. Overall, it is higher, though, to clear the tailpiece.

Kreisler Tilted. Side mount, high plate, with slant in the other direction.

Strobel. A popular choice for side-mounted medium height chinrest. Has a pronounced ridge for the jaw, and a deep cup.

Dresden. Top seller for low, side-mounted chinrest.

Dresden Large Plate. Similar to the regular Dresden model, but has a larger plate area. The extra size is noticable over the tailpiece, which is where many players tend to set their jaw.

Kreisler Low. Low and flat. Mounts to the side of the tailpiece.

Turner. Side mount. Smooth contours.

Over-The-Tailpiece Large. Similar to Guarneri, but with a shallower cup.

Over-The-Tailpiece Small. Like the large version, but has a smaller overall cup size.
