The Music Academy of the West’s Community Access Manager actively welcomes new audiences to classical music performances and events at its annual Summer Festival and for screenings of The Met: Live in HD through relationship building and excellent customer service, while supporting the marketing functions of the Academy. Duties include the planning and implementation of community partnerships, group sales, ticket promotions, and patron communication to increase audiences and general awareness. Additional oversight includes all ticketing, audience services, facilities management, and concessions operations for more than 200 events per year.

Basic Function
The Director of Individual Giving and Donor Relations (DIG) is a member of the Music Academy of the West’s Institutional Advancement Department. Primary responsibilities include building relationships and soliciting gifts from individuals at the major gift level ($2,500+), managing the Academy’s direct mail and online appeals at all levels of giving, overseeing the creation and implementation of all donor giving benefits, and overseeing year-round strategies for donor stewardship.
Advancement Program Overview
The Music Academy’s Advancement team is responsible for raising $4+ million to support the annual fund and select special projects. Individual contributions comprise 65% of all giving at the Music Academy with additional funding coming from foundation grants, corporate giving, and two annual fundraising benefits. Contributions to the annual fund have increased by 26% over the past three years. The Academy completed a $17.5 million capital campaign in April 2016.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has 5+ years’ experience working as a fundraising professional and has extensive experience identifying, soliciting, and developing relationships, with a proven track record of meeting their goals. Experience with in-person solicitations is essential. Superb written, verbal, management, and organizational skills; experience in developing and managing budgets, and working with volunteers are required. The successful candidate will have strong social and interpersonal skills and will excel in a collaborative team environment. S/he will be a person of high energy, integrity, and ethical standards. Experience working for an organization in the performing arts sector will be considered a plus.

The Director of Facilities (DF) is responsible for the management of budget, staff and facility operations in three distinct areas of Facility Services: Buildings and Equipment Management, Landscaping, and Security of the campus. This position is responsible for ensuring the success and effectiveness of customer service efforts, program policies, reporting systems, and determining staffing, equipment, and capital needs for all areas of Facility Services. The person in this position will report to the VP of Operations and CFO, and will manage a combination of direct reports and independent contractors in order to meet the Facility‘s needs.

The Venues Manager (VM) is responsible for the management and use of the Academy’s performance, rehearsal, and instructional venues, as well as the equipment found therein. This position is responsible for ensuring the success and smooth operation of all public productions and non-public events which take place in these venues. This is a 40 hour per week non-exempt position, whose schedule will vary weekly based on venue use. The VM reports to the Artistic Administrator. The VM supervises part-time and temporary stage and technical crew members.
