Our Viennese Extravaganza concerts include some of the greatest hits from Viennese light opera and operetta. Stunningly beautiful music by Johann Strauss II, Emerich Kalman, and Franz Lehar will be presented in a rare chance for the audience to hear these masterpieces in a small and intimate setting with chamber orchestra accompaniment. The Evergreen Chamber Orchestra will be featured in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus Overture and Lehar’s Merry Widow Overture. Vocal selections for tenor and soprano (and one piece for tenor and violin soloist) include Kalman’s Play Gypsy from Countess Maritza, Strauss’s Drinking Song and the Laughing Song from Die Fledermaus, and music from Lehar’s Merry Widow and Giuditta. This is simply an event not to be missed, some of the most wonderful melodies ever composed, two amazing singers whose voices are perfectly suited to this style, and the excellent Evergreen Chamber Orchestra under the direction of William Hill. These selections also happen to be some of William Hill’s all time favorite pieces!
The concert features two rising stars from Colorado; tenor Michael Hoffman, and soprano Nadya Hill. Both have been featured soloists in the past year with the Colorado Symphony and have performed leading roles with the University of Colorado Opera Theater. Nadya and Michael have also performed internationally and have been selected as winners in local and national competitions. Nadya is also an award winning violinist with undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan in voice and violin, both with highest honors. Michael is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and Nadya and Michael are currently finishing Master of Music degrees at the University of Colorado. Nadya has performed in Carnegie Hall, and the week before our November concerts Michael will be performing there. Buy tickets >>
