Teaching Kitchen Specialist
BASIC FUNTION AND SUMMARY
The Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus' mission is to create extraordinary experiences that champion the wonder and joy of childhood. As an employee of the Children’s Museum of Denver, the Teaching Kitchen Specialist is an ambassador of the Museum’s mission and brand, and will strive to provide guest experiences that are inspiring, curious, welcoming, playful, inventive, and expert in nature.
The Teaching Kitchen serves a robust daily menu of walk up, facilitated, and registration-based culinary programs that encourage adult-child interaction and result in visible connections between healthy eating and fun. The Teaching Kitchen Specialist serves as a content specialist in culinary arts. The Specialist will deliver educational and engaging programming to the Museum’s diverse audiences, including very young children (infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age children) and their adult influencers. The Specialist, under the direction of the Teaching Kitchen Coordinator, delivers experiences that blend food preparation and playful family learning to result in healthy food choices.
Hours: 32 hours per week including nights and weekends to reflect the unique needs of the Museum’s audience and programs. Typical schedule will be Saturday through Tuesday.
Rate: $12/hour
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Facilitate educational cooking programs, modeling best practices in culinary education and exemplary teaching techniques for young children and their adult caregivers
- Follow and enforce all sanitation and safety guidelines in the Teaching Kitchen
- Maintain inventory of food and equipment supply
- Assist with maintaining the gardens, including container gardens, composting and aquaponics. Facilitate garden programming, as necessary
- Provide guidance and support to Museum staff and interns assisting in the Teaching Kitchen
- Prepare food samples for the mobile Tasting Cart
- Facilitate programming and engage families during paid experiences, such as Birthday parties, family workshops and other programs

Ability to lift, load, unload and set up materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs). Able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours). Position duties also require kneeling, squatting, reaching and other physical activities.

Clay Technician

The Clay Technician is a highly-trained facilitator who ensures a consistently positive and high quality experience for museum guests in the Clay Studio at the Children’s Museum. The Clay Technician provides exceptional customer service while creating an inviting and fun space for guests to explore and create with clay as well as a variety of other art materials. The Clay Technician is also responsible for the firing and management of the Museum’s kilns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Clay Studio Support (70% of time)
- Collaborate with Art Studio Coordinator on delivering a rich and engaging Clay Studio experience for all visitors.
- Assist with daily set-up, cleaning, and operating of the Clay Studio
- Manage flow of clay through the Clay Studio
- Work alongside the Art Studio Coordinator to envision, develop, and implement clay related classes, programs, and workshops for the Clay Studio and other Museum programs including, but not limited to, glazing workshops, hand building classes, birthday parties, special events, and wheel demonstrations
- Maintain a clear and accurate inventory of materials for the Clay Studio (clay, bisque ware, etc)
- Manage tracking and payment records for guests
- Model appropriate Clay Studio expectations to Museum floor staff and volunteers
- Clearly communicate and model Museum’s mission, policies, and programs to the public
Kiln Firing and Equipment Management (30% of time)
- Oversee all kiln firing, including loading and unloading, for Clay Studio and other clay related programs; move and manage finished clay creations
- Manage kiln firing schedule and provide updates to museum staff as needed
- Maintain kiln room and equipment (electric kilns, pug mill, etc)
- Create house-made items for glaze workshops

The Colorado Railroad Museum is a place where railroad history comes to life. There's something amazing about trains. The familiar whistle has always promised adventure. The gentle rock of the rails has set the rhythm of our lives. Experience it again at the Colorado Railroad Museum with over 100 narrow and standard gauge steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars, cabooses HO Model Railroad and G-scale garden railway on our 15-acre railyard. Part-Time Docent
Position Summary:
Docents at the Molly Brown House Museum lead groups of guests through the Museum and should be interested in history, be able to speak in front of large and small groups, have a flexible schedule and be dependable. This position is for 36-44 hours/month and will include Saturday and Sunday shifts.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working directly with the public is necessary. Previous museum, docent, volunteer or public speaking experience is preferred. An interest in history and storytelling is preferred to facilitate training and the ability to engage guests and place Margaret Brown’s life in context.
Training:
At the Molly Brown House Museum, all Docents write their own tour after a comprehensive training program which has been developed to help our Docents learn about the many subjects covered in a typical Museum tour.
Supervision:
The Docent is responsible to the Volunteer & Event Coordinator and the Museum Director. This person will use a team approach with other staff and volunteers to accomplish set goals.
Special Requirements:
This position may be required to work some nights.

Job Description:
The Department of Earth Science is an outwardly focused and collegial team that engages in international fieldwork but has strong emphasis on the geology and paleontology of the American West. The current staff has expertise in invertebrate and vertebrate paleontology and paleobotany, and each curator has at least one scholarly project in Colorado. The Department’s collections are sizeable and are growing; their composition and history are described at http://www.dmns.org/science/collections/. In addition to one full-time collections manager (this position), the Department has five curators, two fossil preparators who run a preparation laboratory that operates 364 days per year, and nearly 400 volunteers who engage in science, collections, and outreach.
Essential Duties:
- Practices professional collections management for department collections, including knowledge and application of laws and regulations pertaining to collections.
- Facilitates the accession, deaccession, documentation, registration, and preparation of collections.
- Organizes and systematically stores specimens for ease of access, and for long-term preservation.
- Facilitates internal and external access and use of collections for purposes of research, education, loan, and exhibit.
- Oversees the work of volunteers (approximately 75), provides trainings as required and mentors/supervises volunteers, students, and interns.
- Provides information and expertise on collections to internal and external audiences.
- Coordinates with Museum departments to support and deliver 5 - 10 (or more) internal and external educational programs per year.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Museum Studies, earth sciences or a related field required. Collection management experience can be substituted for education.
- 3 years’ experience handling museum collections required.
- 3 years’ experience with relational databases required.

The Outdoor Experience Specialist ensures a consistently safe, enjoyable and educational experience for all Museum guests by assisting the Outdoor Experience Coordinator within Joy Park, the Museum’s Outdoor Exhibit. The Outdoor Experience Specialist, under the direction of the Outdoor Experience Coordinator, is responsible for day to day operations in Joy Park by ensuring quality and functionality of materials, equipment, and exhibit consumables in the space, as required. The Outdoor Experience Specialist helps to train and supervise staff and volunteers while in Joy Park to maintain a quality experience for Museum guests. The Outdoor Experience Specialist also facilitates and trains staff on daily programming, and may assist with other experiences and activities within the space, including supporting operations and programming in Joy Park, facilitated programming, fee-based workshops and programs, special events, camps, and school group programs.
Hours: 24 hours per week - Wednesdays (8 hours, specific hours shift seasonally); Saturdays & Sundays (8:30am – 5:30pm) Occasional evening hours required, schedule may vary.

Operational Duties
- Open and close Joy Park exhibit space daily; clean, organize and reset throughout the day as needed.

- Assist in managing the cleaning, maintenance, inventory and storage of all Joy Park consumables, materials and equipment.
- Support staff and volunteers in Joy Park by offering breaks and modeling exemplary customer service to guests.

Programming Duties

- Lead activities for public guests within Joy Park, in alignment with exhibit and organizational goals. Ensure both formal and informal programs serve as exemplars of developmentally appropriate, play-based outdoor learning.
- Track appropriate metrics for Joy Park programming, to be reported to the Outdoor Experience Coordinator.
- Facilitate programs, activities, and other experiences by modeling best practices in environmental education and exemplary teaching techniques for young children and their adult caregivers.

Program Director
ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION
Think 360 Arts’ mission is to cultivate and sustain the arts as essential to all learning through creative experiences for students and teachers. It is Think 360 Arts’ objective to improve learning opportunities in and through the arts for children and youth, particularly in under-served communities.
Think 360 Arts focuses on in-depth programming enabling children and their teachers learn to express themselves creatively toward the goal of using the arts as a tool for academic achievement, workforce preparedness and personal growth. Programs include: Artist in Residence Programs and After School Workshops; Educational Performances; Public Awareness Campaigns; and Professional Development for Classroom Teachers and Professional Teaching Artists. Think 360 Arts is an affiliate of Young Audiences Arts for Learning.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to inquiries for artist in residence, educational performances, and workshop requests by schools and community-based organizations.
- Conduct outreach, develop and maintain relationships with school districts, administrators, artists, teachers, and organizations.
- Develop, plan, implement and assessing school programs, including managing contracts for all artists and agencies, scheduling, communications, and billing.
- Facilitate planning meetings between school partners and teaching artists as well as all follow-up needed to ensure successful high quality programming.
- Assist the Education Director with the implementation of the CAP Grant program.
- Implement and manage the allocation of funding assistance to Colorado schools, while monitoring funding levels and county percentages for SCFD.
- Assist with the compilation of programs statistics and financial data on related programs.
- Assist the Education Director with the implementation of arts education professional development in-services, workshops, and institutes for Colorado teachers.
- Assist the Education Director with the implementation of the artist selection process for the Think 360 Artist Roster.
- Conduct field observations and attend/present at conferences.
- Assist Think 360 Artist’s with new program development.

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS DESIRED
Candidates should have excellent communication and relationship building skills. A graduate degree in a related field is required. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required. Summary

Special Events support- Supports special events on zoo grounds including traveling exhibits, sponsorship events, and awareness days. Enhances the guests’ experience through guided activities, demonstrations, activation of program areas, informal learning opportunities, and other duties as assigned. These events often occur after regular zoo operating hours.
Program Support- Organizes, inventories, and restocks all program and exhibit materials and supplies. Responsible for set up and break down of programs and activities. Maintains cleanliness of the areas. Assists in recording attendance and supporting program evaluation though observations and feedback.
Communication- Provides excellent customer service to Denver Zoo guests. Communicates effectively and professionally with peers, supervisors, and other Denver Zoo staff members. The Lone Tree Arts Center is seeking qualified candidates for Box Office Lead. Under the direction of the Marketing Specialist, Box Office Manager, and Marketing Director, the Box Office Lead is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations in the box office including, but not limited to: taking and processing ticket orders by phone, mail, and in person; serving as the on-site manager for the box office during performances. About Kantorei
Kantorei, founded in 1997, is a nationally recognized, all-volunteer, professional-caliber choral ensemble based in Denver, CO, led by Artistic Director Joel M. Rinsema. In its 20-year history, the choir has performed at the 2003 and 2011 National ACDA Conventions, regional and local ACDA conventions, the 2008 National Performing Arts Convention, the Aspen Music Festival, and others.
Kantorei's mission is to elevate the human experience through choral excellence. To support this mission the choir presents an annual season consisting of four concert series and other events. Kantorei frequently hosts composers and conductors of international renown such as Eric Whitacre, René Clausen, Anton Armstrong, Eric William Barnum and Simon Carrington.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the Artistic Director and Administrative Assistant, the Marketing and Development Director (MDD) is primarily responsible for all Marketing- and Development-related aspects of the organization. The MDD is responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s overall marketing strategy in support of the artistic and strategic activities of the organization. The MDD helps ensure earned income goals are met by monitoring sales and strategically implementing marketing campaigns, including the coordination and distribution of print, radio, and electronic materials. The MDD will also help with the planning and execution of the organization’s development activities that ensure the organization’s sustainability. The MDD will assist the Development Committee in all fundraising activities including individual giving campaigns, corporate underwriting, and foundation and government grant requests.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and execute annual marketing plans that support the artistic and strategic goals of the organization
- Develop and implement plans to maximize visibility and meet attendance and audience development goals
- Work with the Marketing Committee to develop and codify Kantorei branding guidelines; continuously enhance, leverage, and maintain the integrity of the Kantorei brand
- Coordinate the delivery of all event advertising and collateral (print, web, and social)
- Develop and maintain detailed patron statistics programs, including concert attendance statistics
- Manage web, social media, and email content and delivery
- Assist the Development Committee in creating and executing short- and long-term fundraising plans, including strategies for attracting new donors and retaining existing donors
- Serve as a lead grant writer for project requests submitted to foundations and government funders, and assist with the annual SCFD grant application process
- Attend and assist with all Kantorei performances, events, and activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, communications, or music education; or, equivalent experience in performing arts administration or other nonprofit organizations
- Outstanding written and oral communication, interpersonal, public speaking, and networking skills
- Strategic, creative thinker with natural ability to work independently and take initiative to drive the growth and maturity of the organization
- Strong understanding of and experience with corporate or non-profit marketing practices
- Experience in leading fundraising activities for nonprofits or similar relevant experience
- Ability to represent the organization with funding agencies, donors and supporters
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work effectively with the board of directors, artistic staff, and administrative staff
- Commitment to promoting choral music of the highest quality
- Experience with Web (WordPress), Email (Constant Contact), and Social Media content development and delivery a plus
The Marketing and Development Director is considered a half-time position. Hours worked will vary with the seasonality of programming and may require occasional evenings and weekends as needed for Kantorei performances and events. Rate of pay shall be commensurate with experience.

Weekend Visitor Services Coordinator

Summary:
The Denver Firefighters Museum is seeking for a Weekend Visitor Services Coordinator who is responsible for the weekend operations of the Museum’s front desk and gift shop including greeting the public, answering phones, operating admissions and store registers and maintaining attractiveness of front desk and store area; stocking merchandise, dusting, and straightening. Provide support to tour and birthday parties, as well as weekday and weekend evening events as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet every customer with an excellent standard of customer care.
- Procure and disseminate information about our programs in person and over the phone.
- Operate admissions/store cash register, collect admission, membership, program and birthday party fees, process store transactions, process opening and closing paperwork.
- Balance cash register daily with closing weekly and monthly.

- Provide basic security support through monitoring cameras.
- Dust, vacuum and re-supply restrooms when necessary.

Facilities Maintenance Technician
Basic Function & Summary:
The mission of the Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus is to create extraordinary experiences that champion the wonder and joy of childhood. The Museum is seeking a full time Facilities Maintenance Technician to assist in maintaining our expanded facility including the Museum building, Joy Park and associated campus. This position provides support for all departments and Museum activities including special events. This position reports to and supports the Associate Director of Facilities through repairs and maintenance coordination and/or performance of tasks related to the facility, including: irrigation, mechanical equipment, vehicles, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and ordering of necessary supplies.This position conducts scheduled and reactive Museum maintenance duties, occasionally on an “on-call” basis.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Organizing inventory of supplies, tools and equipment
- Mechanical, safety and security inspections
- Drywall repair, painting interiors & exteriors
- Lighting inspection & replacement
- HVAC system monitoring, control adjustments and filter replacement
