Trumpet Performance Fellowship
June 17-July 19, 2016. Summary of duties
- Perform with the faculty brass quintet and the Festival (faculty) Orchestra, and other groups as needed.
- Assist with brass area student chamber music.
- Assist with operations and library functions for all brass concerts and the Fourth of July Wind Ensemble concert.
- Perform in chamber music ensembles, student orchestra and other events.
- Coach students.
Application deadline is March 1, 2016. Decisions will be announced on or around April 1, 2016.
Arts Management Internships
June 14-July 19, 2016. Non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings.

Sewanee Summer Music Festival interns hold positions of leadership in one of the nation’s premier music festivals. With ample opportunities to mentor with experienced professionals, interns acquire valuable nonprofit arts management skills. To provide diverse experiences in the artistic, operations and administrative aspects of the Festival, each intern may be assigned projects outside of the position description.
Hiring preference is given to applicants who are preparing for careers as arts leaders.
Application deadline is Monday, March 1, 2016. Hiring decisions will be announced on or around April 1, 2015.
Library and Cumberland Orchestra Intern (one position)
Summary of duties
- Assist the SSMF Librarian. Primary areas include working under the supervision of the Librarian to distribute, collect, and oversee during rehearsals and performances all of the printed orchestral music needed for the Festival.
- Manage the Cumberland Orchestra. Primary areas include ensuring that the production of all Cumberland Orchestra events (concerts, rehearsals, run-out concerts and special events) run smoothly and effectively.
Media and Production Intern (one position)
Summary of duties
- Coordinate of the Festival’s digital media. Primary function includes oversight and implementation of all digital media, including audio and video recording and editing, live webcasting and still photography.
- Assist the Director of Production. Primary function is to provide support in production of a variety of concerts and events performed during a four-week music festival.
Office, and Front of House and Student Life Intern (one position)
Summary of duties
- Maintain a professional environment for artistic staff, students, parents, guests, donors, audience members and the general public in the administrative office and at all concerts of the Festival.
- Support the Director of Student Life with programs that complement student music festival activities.
Operations and Sewanee Symphony Intern (one position)
Summary of duties
- Assist the Director of Operations with day-to-day festival activities. Primary function includes work in production of a variety of concerts and events performed during a four-week music festival.
- Manage the Sewanee Symphony Orchestra. Primary function is to ensure that the production of all Sewanee Symphony Orchestra events (concerts, rehearsals, run-outs and special events) run smoothly and effectively.
