The Fort Collins Symphony is offering a 25% DISCOUNT on 2016-17 Season tickets to first-time subscribers who will save anywhere from $47 to $75. According to Board President Rhett Strom, “it is our goal to give all music lovers the opportunity to attend the Masters, Marvels, & Magic series of five Masterworks and one Pops concert.”

Now in its 67th year, the Fort Collins Symphony under the direction of award-winning Maestro Wes Kenney is offering a season of delightful surprises, engaging programs, and stunning music. The Season kicks off on October 8, 2016 with a concert presenting pieces by beloved composers Rachmaninoff and Dvorak. Award-winning pianist and guest artist Xinyu Chen will dazzle as she performs the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2.

Community Lens 
Pairing orchestra performances with images-moving or still-is a popular concert format, and the Fort Collins Symphony in Colorado gave this idea a local twist for its March 5 concert. Community members were invited to submit photos featuring the natural beauty and culture of northern Colorado, with winning shots shown during the orchestra's performances of Richard Meyer's A Fiddler's Fancy and Calvin Custer's Central Coach Special. As Music Director Wes Kinney led the orchestra, the ten winning photographers' images were shown in a display created by multimedia artist Nicholas Bardonnay. Announcing 2016-17 Season!

Fort Collins Symphony Association’s board president Rhett Strom recently announced the Fort Collins Symphony’s 2016-17 Season titled Masters, Marvels & Magic.  Now in its 67th Season, the fully professional orchestra is under the leadership of award-winning conductor Maestro Wes Kenney. Guest artists include previous Young Artist Competition winner pianist Xinyu Chen and two of the New York Philharmonic’s pre-eminent musicians: Assistant concertmaster Michelle Kim and principal trombonist Joe Alessi.

The Season begins on October 8, 2016 with Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. FCSymphony to Perform FORT FUN!

 The Fort Collins Symphony’s Season of Legends and Legacies continues on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. with an innovative concert sponsored by Premier Stem Cell Institute and featuring breathtaking photographic images of Fort Collins projected onto an immense panoramic screen flown above the orchestra.

With the Rocky Mountains as the backdrop, Fort Collins is Northern Colorado’s playground where hiking, biking, and kayaking merge with craft brews, magical views, and activities inspired by the creative muse. Sometimes called the Choice City, the Napa Valley of Beer, or just FoCo, this breathtaking community with a Main Street that inspired Disneyland best suits the nickname of FORT FUN!

The Fort Collins Symphony’s Season of Legends and Legacies continues on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. with an innovative concert sponsored by Premier Stem Cell Institute featuring breathtaking photographic images choreographed to Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Gustav Mahler’s Adagietto. Symphony Photography Contest!

Calling all photographers! The Fort Collins Symphony is seeking photographs celebrating the vibrant activities Fort Collins has to offer.  Poudre Canyon, kayaking, Old Town, biking, Horsetooth, your favorite hideaway, we want to see them all!  The top 75 to 100 photographs will be featured in the Symphony’s March 5, 2016 Image-Ination concert where Westwater Arts Creative Director, Nicholas Bardonnay, will create an innovative photo-choreographed piece about Fort Collins set to the music of A Fiddler’s Fancy by Richard Meyer and Central Coach Special by Calvin Custer.

Hometown Boy's Childhood Dream to Conduct the Fort Collins Symphony to Come True

Dr. Ed Siegel will realize a childhood dream as he guest conducts the Fort Collins Symphony in the Prelude to Carmen during the 4th of July Celebration at City Park. Maestro Wes Kenney will conduct the remainder of the concert entitled Reflection on America which will feature such patriotic favorites as an Armed Forces Salute, America the Beautiful, Stars and Stripes, and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. It will also include popular pieces from Jurassic Park, and Superman. The concert will begin at 8:15 p.m. and conclude with awe-inspiring fireworks.

Ed Siegel, son of successful and community-minded parents, Julian and Ida Siegel, was born at the Poudre Valley Hospital in 1939 and was raised in Fort Collins. Maestro Wes Kenney to Direct Symphony’s 2015-16 Season

Fort Collins Symphony Association’s board president Maury Dobbie was pleased to announce today Maestro Wes Kenney’s contract as Music Director has been extended through 2017. Now beginning his thirteenth year, the award-winning conductor will lead the orchestra as they offer a season filled with legendary music composed and performed by artists who will leave a legacy of great performances. The 2015-16 Legends & Legacies Season begins on October 3, 2015 and will feature Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with guest artist Norman Krieger on piano.

2015 Beat Beethoven 5K Video

The Annual Beat Beethoven 5k was held on March 29, 2015 at 9:00 am in downtown Fort Collins. The run began with Maestro Wes Kenney's baton launching the opening notes of Beethoven's 5th Symphony at the race starting line. The goal was to complete the course before the music ended and therefore "beat" Beethoven (approximately 33 minutes). Proceeds benefit the Fort Collins Symphony's youth education and community engagement programs.

The Lincoln Center’s Main Performance Hall was transformed into a tropical African jungle last Saturday, as the Fort Collins Symphony performed the world premiere of composer Wil Swindler’s concerto “In The Mist”.

Guest artist April Johannesen’s gleaming bass clarinet sensitively portrayed the adult male gorilla, or silverback, who led his gentle family group of gorillas through a day in their lives. 

A passionate supporter of gorillas and wildlife conservation, Johannesen commissioned the piece from her husband, Wil Swindler, and brought it to fruition with the sponsorship of local philanthropists Gwen and Charlie Hatchette.
