About our Cello GroupWe are adult cello players looking to meet like-minded players to play cello ensemble music and learn more about technique, musicality, and ensemble playing, and share the love of cello-playing and music. Members will include players who range in ability from beginner (can read music) to advanced/professional cellists.
There is no audition to join, but players should be "proficient" at reading music and comfortable with first position. Players are encouraged to bring music with them that they would like to play. If we are not able to play it, we can work on it and play it during our next meeting. We can also send out music sheets prior to our meeting if you would like to prepare. Cello Ensemble Meet-upsWe will meet monthly at the "Club House," that is, the organizer's apartment complex club house which has a nice meeting area with small kitchen (yes, it has a fridge, sink and microwave - so bring a snack if you're coming directly from work! Munchies will be available). We will try to rotate between weekends and weekdays to allow members to find a date and time to participate.
Meetup LocationPhotos of our ultra super secret private meetup lair - just kidding, you just need to become a member to find us!
We'll provide the awesome location, experienced moderators (caring wonderful cello teachers), snacks and drinks. You just need to bring your love of cello, a willingness to share that love and the desire to learn and grow with our group (okay, and the items listed under "What to Bring" too!). We have added another venue, which we will be using depending on the size of each Meetup.
Programs•Regular Play-in: to allow players to play cello ensemble music. Music is provided before each of our play-ins, but we will also incorporate some pieces to sight-read as well.
•Concert Attendance: to enjoy music of particular interests to cellists, in many genres, by meeting fellow cellists at concerts in the Boulder/Denver area. •Mini-Workshops: includes out Beginner Ensemble Workshop and Beginner Jazz Ensemble Workshop for those who want to learn more about ensemble playing. *A fee will be assessed to participate. •Performance Concerts: to allow those who want to take their cello to the next level of delicious cello-ey goodness by performing either for other members or in a concert for the community. Performances require an extra effort to practice at home and attend rehearsals. We may also perform in a few coffee shops or hold recitals for family and friends. Retirement CommunitiesAs members you will have the option of joining us in performing for our community. This will provide the opportunity for cellists to participate and perform in an ensemble who have never had the chance to do so. What better way to give back to the community, learn about performing within a group in front of an audience, share the love of cello and music with others AND have fun all at the same time!
The Boulder Cello Project will provide programming and performances for retirement communities in our area. If you would like BCP to perform at your retirement community or charitable organization, please contact us! View our 2012 holiday performance below:
All levels and abilities are welcome! Cellists in this concert include beginners who have never played in a concert before, to cellists who have played a little longer than a year. Performers also include cellists who studied the cello when they were younger and are returning to the cello after a long hiatus, and even cellists who play regularly in orchestras.
