THE BOULDER CELLO PROJECT
The Boulder Cello Project is an organization committed to supporting Colorado cellists by providing a non-competitive friendly place to practice, learn and share knowledge of music and the art of cello playing, and by also providing workshops taught by expert instructors for all levels and abilities. The project's goal is to foster a stronger and more diverse community of musicians by providing music education in different genres to create more knowledgeable cellists who are able to play with other musicians in non-classical genres. |
The project collaborates with local and national composers and arrangers to create music that is accessible to both beginners and advanced players, and also strives to create pieces to showcase the cello's versatility by playing music not generally associated with cello (such as jazz, rock, alternative, etc.) to inspire their members and audience to learn more about playing the cello or musical instrument.
In addition, the Boulder Cello Project strives to inform and entertain their members and audiences by providing unique musical experiences by collaborating with other artists and musicians in their area, and gives back to their community by performing for retirement communities and organizations in need. Clayton is a founding member of the Boulder Cello Project and severed as their Music Director and primary play-in moderator while in Colorado. |

CHASE THE MUSIC
Chase the Music is a non-profit organization formed to facilitate the composition, performance and distribution of original music for critically ill children, or children who have been nominated by the collaborating organizations. Music is a source of emotional strength for children, helping them cope with their illnesses and often contributing to improved physical well-being. If you know of a deserving child we should compose and perform music for, please contact us. |
Clark Hodge, Founder and Executive Director of Chase the Music, found his passion several years ago, when circumstances introduced him to a little girl with leukemia. He wanted to do something special for her, but knew a teddy bear wasn't going to have the meaning needed. He conceived of the concept of having a piece of original music composed and performed for this special little girl.
At the end of the performance of her original composition, the little girl leaned over and said to him, "Clark, I'm never going to stop smiling." One of the most cherished moments of Clark's life, it inspired him to create Chase the Music to heal and help children in need, while providing a lasting impact for all those involved. Clayton collaborated with Chase the Music and the Boulder Cello Project as their Music Director for a special concert, and looks forward to collaborating on future projects. |
