About the Project
The Twisted Savonius Geometry Modeling Project was completed by Nick Halsey between July 2010 and March 2011, and builds off of his previous research with wind turbines. The project aims to develop the Twisted Savonius wind turbine and reduce its cost, by mathematically evaluating its ideal geometry. The following people/organizations have assisted with the project:
- Saltire Software, maker of Geometry Expressions, provided the opportunity to test the limits of their geometric modeling software
- Phil Todd, President, Salitre Software, lent his vast mathematical and symbolic geometry methods knowledge
- Jim Wiechmann, Saltire Software, also assisted with the mathematical aspects of the research and the model development
- Peter Langley, Oregon Episcopal School, aided the scientific documentation process
This work was formerly located on Saltire Software’s website, but now rests on the Cello Expressions domain for purposes of improved content management (with WordPress). The author is the music director of Cello Expressions.
