I was not a huge fan of the new ENT Center. I love the orchestra and always enjoy the performance, but the ENT Center was cold, not as good as Pike's Peak Center's acoustically and the wine selection ...was overpriced for the quality. I will probably not go when they are there agsin unless it's a performsnce I just can't miss. See More

Yesterday afternoon Ellie and I took our son, Steve, his wife, Judy, and our three grandkids, Eric 9, Meghan 8, and Ryan 6, to a sparkling performance of the “Nutcracker “ ballet by the excellent Colo...rado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra and the wonderful Oklahoma City Ballet! We who for years were spoiled by opportunities to hear (as well as to play with) the top notch Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra as well as the Ballet Orchestra of St. Louis, with whom I had the privilege of being solo clarinetist for many years, are delighted to have such fine performances within a reasonably short drive! Congratulations to both terrific organizations! With such a fine orchestra nearby we no longer have to suffer “withdrawal symptoms” by being 20 years and 900 miles distant from the enviable St. Louis musical scene! See More

Always have a fantastic time at the CS Phil, whether Masterworks, Vanguard, or Pops concerts! November 11 was particularly notable for the background information on the three pieces (by Vaughn William...s, Shostakovich, and Copland) and the extraordinary contrasts in mood, emotion, and style with which they approached WWII and its aftermath. I attended the May 20, 2017 performance by the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. They performed a world premiere of Pierre Jalbert's Zones. The incredible soprano, Celana Shafer, gave a bravura performa...nce of the Mozart’s arias, Martern Aller Arten from The Abduction from the Seraglio and Verdrai, carino from Don Giovanni. The entire ensemble of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Celena Shafer, Jarrett Ott, Christopher Pfund, the Colorado Springs Chorale, and the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale led by Josep Cabelle-Domenech gave an electrifying performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. The singing was extraordinary. Josep’s influence on the symphony is apparent. It has improved to the point where it can be compared with world class symphonies such as Chicago, LA, and New York. Thank you to all the people who made the performance possible and to the many people who supported the symphony to make it what it is today. I only wish it had been recorded so it could be shared with everyone. See More
