Blktivity is all about black people that consider themselves activity based! Ever wanted to do something but didn't have anyone that was "into that?" If you're looking for people that are willing to try anything once as long as it's not going to kill you (not guaranteed) this is the place! Blacktivities is about doing! Thinking can come later.
If there are no more than 2 people 3 days before a scheduled activity we may cancel depending on the activity. No worries, we may try it again later :)
All paid events need to be paid at RSVP. There will be no refunds for paid events that are not attended. Flake money goes towards serving the community!
(If you're not black or black adjacent will I kick you out of the group? No, but in consideration this is a cultural activity.)

We will be looking to gather people every other week to do something new or at least new-ish. You might make some new friends or meet a special someone! Who knows, are you willing to find out?
Also looking for assistant organizers, lets form Voltron and create curate some unique stuff.

Governor's Island is only open to the public for a limited time each year.
We can pull up with our own things to eat and drink, but there are also food trucks and restaurants on the island as well. Feel free to bring things or to buy on the island. We can get oysters from The Real Mother Shuckers!
There are bikes, rickshaws and other things to ride on for rent. Or, you can bring your own bike. Definitely bring something to sit on, since we'll be on grass. Feel free to bring anything you like to play with, football, frisbee etc.
The island is accessible by ferry from Manhattan Battery Maritime Building (BMB) down on South Street and also from the Brooklyn side somewhere down Atlantic Ave.
The island has poor mobile service, so it's ideal to meet at one ferry spot and take it over together. The 4/5, R/W, and 1 train all reach the BMB. Path train in to lower Manhattan and walk or connect to one of the aforementioned train lines.

MEET & GREET: Monday, August 15! Join us for our NYC showcase meetup and networking event featuring women owned business and professionals and the customers who love them! Stop by and connect with other entrepreneurs from 5-7pm while soaking in the amazing views of NYC. We will also host sisSTAR Sip & Share Live and feature a handful of sisSTARs in our ongoing IG LIVE series in-person. If you are a woman owned business or professional, we invite you to join us and be featured. While we won't have any vendor tables, we do encourage entrepreneurs to showcase their products/services with samples, business cards, look-books, on hand merch/displays, etc.

NY Insight Meditation offers this donation based meditation for POC on most Mondays.
This sitting group provides instruction in insight meditation and fosters mutual support and understanding among the growing community of people of color who find nourishment and inspiration in the practice of meditation.
No previous meditation experience is required.
Offered through Zoom right now due to COVID.
